Denzel Xavier Scott debuted as an author of genre literature in November 2021 in Beneath Ceaseless Skies with his short story, “The Black Rainbow.” His poem, “Questions for the Coming Age of the God of Meat” was published by Fiyah Magazine in January of 2023 and his short story, “Zariel: Parable of a Gifted Black Child” is forthcoming in the January/February 2024 issue of Fantasy and Science Fiction (F&SF) Magazine. His debut poetry collection, Delphinium Gospel, will be published by ELJ Editions in April 2024. He was recently named as a Cave Canem Fellow Semifinalist for his then-unpublished and then-named debut collection, Hymnal of a Delphinium Moon, was a Pushcart nominee in 2020 as well as a Sundress Press Best-of-the-Net finalist in poetry in 2019 and has twice been nominated for inclusion in the Best New Poets anthology. He earned his BA in English from the University of Chicago and received his Writing MFA at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in his hometown, Savannah, GA. His essays, literary fiction, nonfiction, and literary poetry appear in Spillway, Rattle, Decomp, Pidgeonholes, Empty Mirror, the Cortland Review, Random Sample Review, Linden Avenue, amongst many others.
