Fatima Alharthi is a Saudi short story writer, essayist and translator. Her debut short story collection Black Cat & Other Stories won the Sharjah Prize for Arab Creativity in 2022. Her chapbook Pear & Other Essays won Kairos Literary 1st Prize. Her work appeared in The Southern Review, Denver Quarterly, Indiana Review and Los Angeles Review among others. When not writing, she takes pictures of Northern cardinals, blue jays, mocking birds and Carolina wrens, presses flowers, tries new recipes for dinner, and plays hide & seek, UNO, soccer and basketball with her kids.
