Gizzards & Hearts: Stories
An isolated mother cares for her baby while the world burns around her. Three boys try to transform an old shopping cart into a time machine. At a worksite, the smoke that repels bugs also acts as a confessional.
In Gizzards & Hearts, people look for any escape as their world closes in around them. These characters embrace desperate acts with violent ends. They hatch absurd plans and make hopeful pleas. They fight to shed the past and recognize the present, to find some unearned grace and see themselves, and others, as something close to what they truly are.
